What is Riffing and what does it do for you?
Riffing is the zen of stand-up. It's being completely in the moment and being able to roll with whatever happens during your set. No other skill builds intimacy with an audience than this and no other skill comes in so handy on private/corporate gigs where you have to make it about them. That perfect comment said at just the right moment will always do better than your best written joke. I can identify the tools that work best in riffing and share my experience as a riffing comic on what has worked best for me over the years.
Riffing. You know it when you see it but it scares you.
The idea of someone heckling or even talking to you throws you. It doesn't
have to. In fact, you can utilize it for creative purposes. Better yet, you
can understand what is exactly happening by learning the tools, tricks and
techniques of riffing and of course, what to do and not do with hecklers.
